Attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi
Communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Republic
Paris, September 12, 2012
I utterly condemn the attack in Benghazi yesterday evening, which claimed the lives of the United States Ambassador to Libya, Mr Christopher Stevens, and three American diplomats.
France calls on the Libyan authorities to shed full light on these heinous and intolerable crimes, identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
In these tragic circumstances, I express France’s full solidarity with the United States and extend all my condolences to the families and loved ones./.
M. Francois Hollande, President of France
