Eleven veterans of World War II receive the Legion of Honor
On Saturday November 9th, 2013, Mr Fabrice Maïolino, Deputy Consul General of France in Los Angeles, bestowed with the Legion of Honor medal eleven Japanese American veterans of the World War II.
The ceremony took place in front of the Go For Broke Monument in Downtown LA, a place dedicated to the commemoration of Japenese American soldiers who fought during WWII.
In his speech, the Deputy Consul General declared that ’’France will never forget these soldiers who came to fight for its land as they would have fought for their own.’’ And that France will always remember ’’The brave men of the glorious 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) of the United States Army.’’
Misters Tokuji Yoshihashi, Harry H. Kanada, Hiroshi Nishikubo, Don S. Miyada, Fumio ’’Steve’’ Shimizu, Takashi ’’Frank’’ Sugihara, Harry H. Yoshimura, Noboru ’’Don’’ Seki, George S. Kanatani, Makoto ’’James’’ Ogawa et Takashi Wada received the National Order of The Legion of Honor in the rank of Chevalier (Knight).
