Student and researcher exchanges between France and the USA:

“Chateaubriand” fellowships

The Chateaubriand Fellowship in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM), offered by the Embassy of France in the United States (Office for Science and Technology - OST), supports young scientists who wish to conduct part of their doctoral research in a French laboratory for a 4 to 9 months period. The Chateaubriand Fellowship aims to initiate or reinforce collaborations, partnerships or joint projects by encouraging exchange at the doctoral level. To that end, the OST supports PhD students who are registered in an American university and participating in a co-supervised PhD with a French university.

Partner University Fund

The Partner University Fund (PUF), established in 2007 by the Embassy of France to the United States and the FACE Foundation, supports innovative collaborations in research and education between French and American institutions of higher education. PUF supports emerging transatlantic partnerships with the potential to continue beyond the initial 3 year grant.

Young Enterprise initiative (YEi)

The Young Enterprise “Start in France” initiative is an accelerator program designed to help entrepreneurs start and grow their business in France and Europe. Winners of the program will benefit from a one-week immersion in France, allowing laureates to benefit from an extensive customized business network and connections to some of the best resources in Europe.

New Technology Venture Accelerator (NETVA)

The NETVA program (New Technology Venture Accelerator) offers young French innovative startups with a guided personalized coaching program which focuses on the analysis of opportunities and the development of technological partnerships in the United States and in Canada.
Managed by teams from the Offices for Science and Technology of the Embassies of France in the United States (Boston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C.) and in Canada (Toronto), NETVA aims to meet the need for the internationalization of young innovative French companies that are developing products with significant added value.

SCIENCE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES

Café des Sciences:

The "Café des Sciences" is a series of scientific conferences given in French, organized by the Office for Science and Technology in Los Angeles. Each event is an opportunity for the French, Francophone and Francophile communities to meet with a French scientist working in the USA and to learn more about his or her research interests. The talk is always followed by an informal discussion and a cocktail reception. These events are free of charge and open to the public. They are an excellent opportunity to meet new people and to learn about science around a coffee or a glass of wine. Presentations are held in French.

"Life Sciences: inventing - creating - having fun" Grant:

The Office for Science & Technology (section of Los Angeles) of the Embassy of France in the United States of America will financially support participation in scientific competitions, contests and games specializing in Life Sciences.
The Office for Science & Technology hopes this program will encourage students and researchers to participate in exchanges with the United States and France, as well as initiate collaborations between French and American scientists, and promote scientific research and practice.
