The Office for Cultural Affairs & the Creative Industries [fr]
As of September 2016, the Cultural and Audiovisual Services of Los Angeles have become the Office for Cultural Affairs and the Creative Industries.
The promotion of the French creative industries is today a number one priority for all our cultural services, since it lies at the very heart of economic diplomacy and influence.
Through the creation of the Office for Cultural Affairs and the Creative Industries, the Cultural Services in Los Angeles are establishing a structure better suited to such a dynamic area. Prominent in multiple sectors, most notably cinema, music, television, video games, and visual arts, the city also has outstanding universities and the third highest GDP in the world (close to 866 billion dollars in 2014). All these facts make Los Angeles a critical player in the importation of French culture and content to America, but also in promoting France as an attractive country for cultural investments.
The creative industries are a pillar of French excellence. Their promotion furthers the advancement of French culture as well as lends support to enterprises in the cultural domain. It also creates a domino effect on other sectors, such as tourism and education, thus promoting even more the attractiveness of France.
The creation of the Office for Cultural Affairs and the Creative Industries is part of a global outreach initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development to facilitate exchanges between the different services and organizations invested in the promotion of the creative industries.
The mission of the Office for Cultural Affairs and the Creative Industries is to provide guidance and advice to cultural organizations, promoting the value of French creativity and an exchange of expertise, while favoring interaction and integration between different sectors.
In addition to the current team, the Office for Cultural Affairs and the Creative Industries is meant to bring together different assets, and therefore hopes to welcome in the near future, representatives from various public operators involved in creative industries, in order to generate synergies with its actions.
