David Martinon
Consul General of France in Los Angeles
Consul General David Martinon was appointed to his current post in Los Angeles on August 15, 2008.
Prior to his present appointment, Mr. Martinon was spokesperson for the French President, a position he had held since May 2007. Before this, he was chief of staff for Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy’s presidential campaign.
Earlier in his career, Mr. David Martinon was responsible for communication to the headquarters of the right-wing opposition party in 1990.
From 1991 to 1994, he served as a political communications and electoral marketing Advisor to the company “Acte Public Communication”.
In 1995, David Martinon was in charge of communication during the municipal and presidential campaigns at the cabinet of the Defense Ministry. He was then appointed Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1998 to 2001 before joining the Department of European Cooperation from June 2001 to May 2002.
More recently, Mr. Martinon has been a Diplomatic Counselor in the cabinet of Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy in the Ministry of the Interior from May of 2002 to March of 2004. He worked for Mr. Sarkozy again as Advisor in his cabinet at the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry.
David Martinon worked as a Diplomatic Advisor while Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy was president of the UMP party (2004-2006). He was then appointed to the position of Diplomatic Counselor for Mr. Sarkozy in the Ministry of the Interior from 2005 to 2007.
Born in 1971, David Martinon is a graduate of the Institute of Political Sciences and the National School of Administration (ENA).
