The French Film and TV Department of the French Embassy in Los Angeles is the local representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Film Department. Its purpose is to support and promote the French film and television industries on the West Coast, and to facilitate contacts between US and French entertainment industry people.
Exercising activities in the fields of cinema, television, radio, and new technologies applied to these fields, this department is specialized in supporting the release of French features, and importing French programs to the United States.
- Film: To report on trends and developments in the film industry and support commercial releases of French movies. The department also works in association with American universities, film schools, cultural institutions and film festivals to program contemporary French movies, retrospectives and showcases dedicated to French filmmakers, or classic French films.
- Television: promotion of TV5 USA towards local cable companies and final consumers, identification of potential American partners for French programs, promotion of the Ministry’s programs in conjunction with American universities or cultural structures, professional screenings (animation programs) for US TV buyers.
- Radio: Promotion of RFI’s free re-broadcast and syndicated programs and web site, report on technological trends in the US market.
